Lunch Seminar

October 5, 2006  - Election 2006: Having the Right Focus

Labor Day, the traditional beginning of the campaign season, has passed. Over the course of the next two months leading up to the Nov. 7th election, media and voter interest will focus largely on the “big” electoral prizes: the gubernatorial contest and the U.S. Senate race.

The political parties will concentrate on the offices that determine control of the apportionment board – governor, auditor, and secretary of state – and the corresponding responsibility to redraw legislative district lines following the 2010 U.S. Census.

But what about the business community?  What focus should Ohio’s employers have?

The Ohio Chamber believes that it’s in the less glamorous contests, particularly the ballot issue campaigns and the two contests for the Ohio Supreme Court, that the outcomes will have the most significant impact for the business community.

If you do business in Ohio, you won’t want to miss our special presentation from Keith Lake, director of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce’s Political and Candidate Education program.  Please make plans to be with us as Keith shares the information employers need to focus in on what’s at stake in this year’s elections.

If interested in this seminar, please R.S.V.P. to Nancy Hines at nancy.hines@madisoncountychamber.org or 740-852-2250.

When: Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006 from Noon - 1 p.m.
Where: Madison County Chamber of Commerce Business Center
Cost: $5 members/ $7 non-member guests (pay at the door)
