Madison County, Ohio was named one of Progressive Farmer magazine's Top 100 places to live in 2006!

Madison County fine place to sink roots, survey finds: "Progressive Farmer" (magazine) extols shining examples of rural life in America.

"Feb. 10--LONDON, Ohio -- More than once, Carol Daniels and her pajamaclad family have stargazed from the back of a rickety farm wagon in the middle of the night. That, she said, couldn't be done in the city.

"The neighbors would say, 'Oh my, the Daniels have lost their minds again,' " she said. "But out here in Madison County, well, that's our entertainment." Madison County surely must have more to offer than a clear view of the Milky Way, however, since the editors at Progressive Farmer magazine say it is one of the best places..." History

On February 16, 1810, the Ohio government authorized the creation of Madison County. The county was named in honor of James Madison, the fourth president of the United States. The county began to flourish during the 1830s, with the completion of the National Road through Ohio.

Now, Madison County is a community of nearly 50,000 residents that prides itself in cultivating people, businesses and agriculture.

With multiple educational and training institutions, social services and non-profit agencies, and governmental entities working together, Madison Co. residents have limitless opportunities for realizing their dreams and living up to their potential.

Part of this is finding and cultivating entrepeneurs who have an idea for a business. The Madison Co. Chamber of Commerce works diligently to give these entrpreneurs the resources and skills so that they can start their businesses and be successful in Madison County.

With a great regional location and multiple state highways and interstates, Madison Co. is the ideal place for large employers to locate. They will find that we offer a hard working labor force that has been brought up by an agricultural heritage.

This agricultural heritage is still prevalent today and we work hard to make sure that all businesses, big or small, work well with our agricultural economy.
